Sing Me, Dance Me

Sing Me, Dance Me

by Kimberly Kai September 2024

Sing me alive* and hear my sound!

It’s in each note I’m fully found

I mourn, I pray, I cherish, I praise

I honor Life in endless ways

Lie-lie-lie-lie-lie-lie-lie-lie

Birds greet dawn with songs that soar

Whales vocalize ‘cross distant shores

The chirp of crickets form a choir

The frogs call out with their desire

Lie-lie-lie-lie-lie-lie-lie-lie

The joy of song fills empty space

the power of word, an act of Grace

my cells vibrate with Love so true

through breath and sound I’m born anew

Lie-lie-lie-lie-lie-lie-lie-lie

Dance me Alive, and watch me move

This way and that, I’m in the groove

I step in time with the drum’s beat

I sway my hips and twirl my feet

Lie-lie-lie-lie-lie-lie-lie-lie

The sound it moves through every cell

I feel alive and whole and well

I’m in flow state, a mild trance

The feeling of a sweet romance

Lie-lie-lie-lie-lie-lie-lie-lie

Whirling limbs fill empty space

Pure freedom is a state of grace

my cells vibrate with Love so true

through breath and dance I’m born anew

ENDNOTES

*I first heard the phrase ”Sing Me Alive” as a prompt given by Kiranjot Kaur to my Creator Circle group in June of 2024. (Kiranjot Kaur has written a gorgeous devotional song of her own “Sing Me Alive!” that you can hear on Youtube.)

Kiranjot shared with me that the phrase “Sing Me Alive” was inspired by a Radiance Sutras translated by Lorin Roshe.

Immerse yourself in the rapture of music.

You know what you love. Go there.

Tend to each note, chord,

Rising up from silenceand dissolving again.

Vibrating strings draw us

Into the spacious resonance of the heart.

The body becomes light as the sky

And you, one with the Great Musician,

Who is even now singing us

Into existance.
